According to official statistics processed by the CONFINDUSTRIA MARMOMACCHINE Studies Center, in the first 5 months of 2022 Italy’s exports of machines, installations, tools and other equipment to extract and process natural stones reached worth of 435.6 million euros, remaining on the excellent levels of 2021 (down 1% from the January to May period last year).
In fact, we remind readers that for Italian technology makers 2021 registered an annual 18.5% increase in foreign revenue, returning exports to pre-pandemic levels (with a +0.3% difference from 2019).
Leading the destination markets for stone technologies Made in Italy was again the United States, whose imports in the first 5 months of the year showed a record increase of 35% from the same period in 2021, reaching 81.8 million euros.
There were also big increases in sales to France (+64.5%, the second-ranking buyer with 26.9 million euros), Germany (+10.9%, third with 25.8 million), India (+108.5%, fourth with 24.1 million), Brazil (+95.9%, fifth with 23.9 million and Canada (+40.7%, seventh with 22.1 million). There was some backsliding on the Spanish market (-7.8%, sixth with 23.9 million) and larger decreases in technology sales to Poland (-19.8%, eighth with 20.7 million), the United Kingdom (-32.8%, ninth with 17.2 million) and Portugal (-40.5%, tenth with 13.6 million).
